The Enemy is a groundbreaking immersive experience that involves participants in discussions about violence and humanity. Directed by journalist Karim Ben Khelifa, the project uses VR technology to present interviews with combatants of conflicts, such as Israel and Palestine, Congo and El Salvador. The project was made possible through a co-production between Camera lucida, France Televisions, the NFB, Departement and Emissive. With the support of Google DNI, Camera lucida plans to initiate different distribution strategies, by creating exhibitions, mediation experiences in conflict zones, and to create fully-adapted impact measurement tools to apply these strategies to a global audience.
Content Blockchain Project - Creating a decentralized infrastructure for content identification and trading on top of the latest advancements in blockchain technology. The project is an initiative to drastically simplify license management and content distribution and to develop a system to monetize digital news content (first and secondary use). All elements are aligned on a responsive grid and visual media query breakpoints are used to ensure optimized layouts for every display size. Text and media content can be edited right in StoryFlow. It will combine storytelling techniques including scrollytelling, interactive infographics, nonlinear stories, news games and more.

The Archive for Conflict Investigation is a platform that collects, curates, verifies, analyse & preserves social media content from conflict areas. The platform informs the public of developments as they arise, and also provides an evidence base for use in future investigations. Cataloging verified information will support the efforts of various groups interested in conflict allowing for the cross referencing of their reports against the platform’s verified dataset. This in turn will lead to more reliable & timely reporting of conflicts in the media and by human rights organisations. Factmata is a state-of-the-art claim detection and fact checking system for claims made in digital media content, such as news articles and political speech transcripts. The system is built upon academic research in natural language processing, conducted at University College London and the University of Sheffield. The Factmata Project aims to build a product for people to engage in the process of correcting news articles, identifying fallible claims, and supporting more accurate information on the web. Most importantly, we want to make fact checking easier, and much more fun!
To stimulate the creation of original VR news content, WAN-IFRA will lead a collaboration with leading Benelux news publisher Mediahuis to test new monetisation channels for VR and 360 video experiences. We anticipate developing several ad units - static image, 2D video or interactive elements that can be placed in appropriate spatial position in a 3D GUI overlay on 360 degree video footage. Our tool visualizes public procurement markets as a bi-modal directed network visualization.
