Google is investing in new training and development resources for journalists and newsrooms across Europe, as well as funding research into the changing media landscape.

Programmes

We provide dedicated staff to work with European newsrooms on digital skills. We also have training partnerships with journalism organisations including the European Journalism Centre, WAN-IFRA, GEN. We also provide enhanced online tools for journalists.

50 lessons. 15 tools. 13 languages. Introducing the revamped News Lab Training Centre.

We’re excited to announce our revamped Training Centre at g.co/newslab, which now hosts more than 50 individual lessons. From Google Maps to Fusion Tables to Google Trends and more, the lessons are presented in a low-bandwidth, card-based format that is mobile friendly and designed to meet the needs of busy journalists looking for quick answers.

Google NewsLab initiatives also include:

  • A re-built Google Trends platform, based on feedback from journalists from newsrooms around the world, with increases in the depth, breadth and speed of available data.
  • Extending the Google Journalism Fellowship programme to Europe.
